Tony’s Jewellers was established in 1983 by Tony and Sharon Peixoto. What began as a small family workshop has grown into a South African manufacturing business built on more than 40 years of craftsmanship, experience and faith. In the early years, everything was done by hand. Our first 10,000 buckles were individually cut by Tony using tin snips. It was truly a family effort, with our sons helping to file the buckles and Thandi helping with the buffing and finishing. Those early years taught us the value of hard work, perseverance and attention to detail.

As the business grew, we moved from hand-making buckles into casting and manufacturing fashion jewellery. Over the years Tony developed and made our own moulds, allowing us to manufacture an ever-growing range of products ourselves. Our journey later led us into Catholic and Christian jewellery, including medals, crosses, crucifixes, rosary centrepieces and rosary components. Many of these products are still manufactured in our own workshop today.

About 15 years ago, another chapter began when we opened our bead shop. This expanded the business into beads, findings and jewellery-making supplies. We travelled to China to source materials and discover new products, helping us build a much wider range for our customers. Through all the changes and challenges over the years, Tony’s Jewellers has remained a family business. Tony has continued to concentrate on manufacturing, mould-making and production, while Sharon has worked with our customers, orders, product ideas and designs. Our faith has always been an important part of our journey and continues to guide what we do today.

Today, more than 40 years after we began, we are proud that Tony’s Jewellers is still creating and manufacturing in South Africa. From those first hand-cut buckles to the thousands of items and moulds we have produced over the years, every chapter of our story has been built through hard work, creativity, family and faith. We look forward to continuing that journey and serving our customers for many years to come.
